Day 19: Fun on the Job

Palace Owl

The work part of teaching is preparation. I’m trying to consolidate that by getting as many students onto one language book (or in the same series) so that my prep time is cut way down. Why? It’s much better to teach one lesson several times, than to prepare for and teach eight different lessons using different books. And, NO, that does not make the teaching boring, because there are different students to each lesson, and so I get different reactions to the same questions, different responses to material, and unique insight on their individual businesses. Utlimately, teaching (and learning) is about having fun with the subject. Without that, it’s all just work.
